Not exactly a 'keeper' with its horrible white sky, more of an aide memoire to go back and take this scene again when the weather is better. The sky wasn't pure #FFFFFF in reality, but not far off.
The scene shows the City of Bath College's weirdly-shaped lecture theatre and a mix of architectural styles that caught my eye. I like the way you can just see the new baths building peeping through a gap in the older buildings. The baths can be seen in a number of my images of Bath, perhaps most clearly in 'Lovely Day for a Swim' (http://gigapan.org/gigapans/13346/) which was taken from the roof of the building behind the lecture theatre.

Autopano has a blending algorithm called 'smartblend' that is good at removing ghosts from gigapans (it is very slow though and only works on small gigapans). I wanted to test the idea that rather than removing the odd ghost, I could use smartblend to remove all the people from a busy street scene. This is the result.
It's a 9x4 which I shot in rows from bottom to top. After taking the whole pano, I re-shot the bottom two rows four times. If someone walked into the frame as a photo was taken then I didn't bother to re-take the shot, I just let the imager carry on and hoped that I'd have another version of the same shot without a person in it.
I chucked the original 36 images and all four sets of the bottom two rows into AP and smartblended. The result was not what I had hoped - it seems smartblend (or its implementation in AP) is not as sophisticated as I thought. However, I made a new gigapan from the top two rows of the original set and then added the most people-free shots from the four sets of the bottom two rows. This is "cheating" as far as my original idea was concerned, but the result is quite good given how busy the scene was.
I will upload a non-smart-blended version of the same scene for comparision in due course.

Quick experiment. The cafe to the right of centre is one of my favourites. You can often find me sat here tucking into one of their "famous" breakfasts. The cajun-spiced steak in a tortilla wrap is also excellent.
In the evenings my preference is for Yum Yum Thai (http://tinyurl.com/ydwdqp6).

This is one of a series of quickly-taken images taken by hand. My objective was not to create a gigapan per se, but to explore the architecture of the new Southgate Centre (although in this image is centred on the new bus station office).

If you look carefully you can see the legs of a tripod and a hard hat. I conclude either this guy is an official Sir Robert McAlpine Photographer or he is more experienced in bluffing his way into places he is not supposed to be than I am. I enfold and cherish his deviousness. I will add a hard hat to my bluffer's kit of a clipboard and a flo-yellow security jacket.

If you like to eat duck, then I *really* recommend the roast duck with tamarind sauce. Man from heaven!
