This image is centered on the area of the altar and provides context for this monument and its sight lines which are largely restricted to the south. It also provides a visualization for assessing the conservation needs of this now very much exposed structure. Please note that the darkened areas are the result of camera exposure and are not the result of human activities. Gigapan taken by I. Straughn.

This image shows the sight lines between these two major Petra monuments. One can also zoom in on the problems facing the Winged Lion Temple from its exposure to the elements following its excavation. GigaPan taken by Ian Straughn.

This was supposed to be a larger panorama, but stopped halfway through.

I tried to keep this dark, so the sky and water would not be washed out, but the grass and people are consequently very dark.

My first gigapan with a new camera. The stitching is...not so good. Hopefully, I'll have a replacement for tomorrow, when I try again.

An example of an in situ base ring that were used extensively in this structure. Future conservation of this monument will return many of these excavated from the ruins to the temple. At present the companions to this architectural feature sit in the nearby lapidary.
