You are looking North West from the bluff of White Cloud, Kansas over the Missouri river to the state Missouri. Iowa can be seen to the left of the panorama. White Cloud was once a busy port city before the Civil War, but now is well known for the "White Cloud Flea Market" held on the first Sunday of May and the first Sunday of September.

This view is from the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower SkyDeck looking west. The weather was a bit foggy which caused the horizon to disappear in the distance. The strange shapes in the sky in the upper left portion of the gigapan are the reflections of people in the glass window.

This is a wonderful dinosaur exhibit outside at the north west corner of the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History. The people show the relative size.

The Art Institute of Chicago is simply fabulous. Here it is on the right as we look north along Michigan Avenue where you can clearly see the two bronze lion statues at the west entrance.

Looking through a forest of masts at the Du Sable Harbor marina in Lake Michigan at the east end of Chicago's Randolph Street, you can see Chicago's lake front skyscrapers.

Designed by Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd, Piet Oudolf and Robert Israel, this 2.5-acre garden pays homage to the City's motto, "Urbs in Horto" (City in a Garden), which refers to Chicago's transformation from its flat and marshy origins to a bold and powerful city. Highlights of the garden include the dramatically lit, 15-foot-high "shoulder" hedge. This physical representation of Sandburg's famous description of the "City of Big Shoulders" encloses the garden on two sides and protects the delicate perennial garden. A graceful hardwood footbridge over shallow water divides the garden diagonally between "light" and "dark" plates.
About this picture: Terry Evans, a Chicago artist photographer, was recruited by the Chicago Office of Tourism to create a Gigapan. She selected the subject, time, and orientation and the Gigapan equipment was run by Ted Socolofsky, a local Gigapan enthusiast. Also known as the Chicago Northwestern Train station. This blue glass building is slightly obstructed by the AT&T building with an array of communications discs that look like a four layer cake.
