I have been meaning to tag it for a month apparently. This perspective is amazing and no one else got it. Though the other shot from on top of Neverwas Haul seems to be others favorite; Dave and I like this one. Posted by shellerae |

Seeing the Crude Awakening figures here, after seeing them at Burning Man, created a strong connection in me between daily life and that temporary autonomous zone feeling of being on the playa for a week. All week the oil derrick stood over us. Not exactly over us, but lurking off in the corner. We could see it if we chose to look, but we could also choose to ignore it. It was about choice. Until they burned the f....er, then it wasn't a choice any more. It was big flames and fireworks and tower go boom. Not a subtle metaphor! Seeing the figures in normal life (oddly I consider Maker Faire 'normal life' :-) brought back the whole Playa experience. Posted by Rich |
