A view looking northwest from the chapel tower at St. John's College, University of Cambridge, on an exceptionally clear day in late spring. Scenes of note: sunbathers on the grounds of St. John's, punters on the Cam, and Ely Cathedral to the northeast (14.5 miles/23.3 km away!).

A Gigapan taken from outside of our 17th story hotel room in Montreal right as the sun was setting.

The City Museum in St. Louis, MO also has an expanding exhibit of architectural ornaments, most culled from structures that were/are in and around the city.

A view from the mezzanine of the main staircase of the City Museum in St. Louis, MO. I had to stitch this panorama with the old stitcher since the new one kept running out of memory---the result is a big black band on the edges where there is actually photo data. I will probably restitch this image later.

This scene awaits you just inside of the City Museum in St. Louis. As with the outside, what you see here is made with the city's castoffs, including entire building facades, gears, gargoyles, printing plates, conveyor rollers, rebar, and more. Come here and explore.

A view of the first floor of the City Museum in St. Louis, featuring wall-to-wall climbable sculpture. This area combines sea and forest things. Stuff to look for: live turtles and fish, huge hollow logs that you can climb through, a whale, a slide made from conveyor belt rollers, a Habitrail up in the rafters, and more.

When you arrive at St. Louis's City Museum, this is what you see, except with people climbing on, around, over, and under "MonstroCity", an enormous structure made from the leftover pieces of buildings and vehicles. In back, the looming International Shoe building, where more like this awaits inside (and soon, on top). There is no place like this in any other city anywhere in the world!
(But probably there should be.)

A massive expansion of St. Louis's City Museum, featuring more slides and the infamous overhanging bus that rankled the city so much in the 1990s. More found objects from all over the city are here; the camera is positioned on a dome from the old St. Louis Planetarium, the mantis is familiar to people who used to drive along I-44 in those days.

This Gigapan was taken shortly before the Canadian federal election of 2008. Election signs like this one for Bloc Québécois leader Giles Duceppe seemed to be on every lamppost in Montreal
