I live and work in the Edmonton area of Alberta. Most of my work in the last 30 years has been in the field of graphic arts and photo reproduction. I'm no stranger to large cameras. In years past I worked on a large overhead Brown Admiral repro camera with a 750mm apo-Nikor lens and a film format of 60" x 96". I've also worked with the latest drum scanners from Crosfield and Fuji. I currently live on an acreage near Stony Plain , Alberta. My other hobbies include backyard astronomy, flyfishing, canoeing and gardening, specializing in growing giant pumpkins and sunflowers. I've also taken up flying and hope to have my private pilot's license soon. In the meantime I'll be taking lots of aerial photos with the digital camera.

My Gigapan BLOG:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding my Gigapan images, I try to optimize the exposure and composition for detail, accuracy of colour and overall interest of the subject matter. You'll find my subject matter varied and unusual in some respects. Some images contain stitching errors because of subject movement during recording.
I'm also currently working on a project to output many of my images on a 98" wide Hewlett-Packard plotter at high resolution (1440 x 1440) with the view to having an exhibition next year. Stay tuned for further developments! The largest plotter images can be 96" high by the length of the roll (150 feet) Test results so far have been excellent. Prices and shipping details upon request.
And now....the world's largest panorama...nearly 27 Gigapixels of the skyline of the city of Paris...a monumental undertaking by French photographer Arnaud Frich and his team. 2346 images stitched into one huge panorama measuring 354159 x 75570 pixels!!!
A gigantic Bucyrus 8750 dragline is being built as part of the expansion of the Keephills coal-fired power plant west of Edmonton, Alberta. This view shows the basic framework and many of the components ready to install. When finished it will weigh about 8000 tons and have bucket capacity of about 160 cubic meters on a boom of 425 feet.
Located in Wells Gray Provincia; Park. BC north of Clearwater. The falls is about 185 feet high and flows into a volcanic gorge. Many layers of basaltic lava make up the colourful gorge. The reddish colour is caused by iron and other minerals in the basalt. Most recent lava flows were less than 1 million years ago and the canyon which is about 400 feet deep was carved during the massive melts of the last ice age about 10,000 years ago.
These imposing cliffs rise to more than 10,000 feet near Saskatchewan Crossing in Banff National Park.
The view is from Rampart Creek on the Icefield Parkway.
The pinnacles near the top are eerie and mysterious, sometimes resembling cathedral towers. Dozens of small cascades tumble down from the upper cliffs as the snow melts. Mount Wilson also has a large glacier and snowfield on it's northeast slopes.
The summit ridge here is about 1600 meters (more than a mile) above this viewpoint.
