The I-70 roadcut through the Dakota Hogback reveals some 100 million years of rocks from the Age of Dinosaurs.
On the way from Denver to Mount Evans

I took a break at Red Rocks where I made some spherical panoramas:

A small mining and gambling town nestled behind Pikes Peak. This GigaPan was taken with a Canon 5D MK II (21 MP) camera and Really Right Stuff Panoramic equipment. 41 images were taken and composited in Autopan software. It is far easier to use the GigaPan Epic and a Canon G10 with GigaPan's software. I am printing the 1.5 GB file to 50x285 inches on a Canon iPF9000 printer. The 5D MK II did give a higher reolution result. The lens on the 5D MK II was a 100-400mm set to 260mm.

The Mount Evans Scenic Byway is America's highest paved automobile road. Drive from 8,700 feet at Idaho Spring where you turn of Interstate 70 to 14,240 feet to the summit, and you will pass through 3 life zones, passing ancient trees, lakes and forest to the land above timberline. It can be 90 degrees in Denver and 40 degrees at the top of Mount Evans. Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep will greet you as you climb to the top of the world.

This is taken inside Jasper National Park about half way between the towns of Hinton and Jasper. Due to the time of the year and things freezing up the river is quite low as can be seen by the mud flats.

There were two herds of Elk and about 3 stray males.
I hope to fix this and re-post it. Auto exposure, which has worked well for me, caused big problems here. Pictures on the sky forest boundary have blown out sky.

This 360 degree pano was taken from a hill known as Old Fort Point just outside of Jasper, Alberta in Jasper National Park. The hill is only a few hundred feet high as you can see looking down at the Athabasca River but holds a commanding view of the townsite, the valley and the surrounding peaks.

This pano was taken from 2170 meters elevation looking down on Maligne Lake (1670 meters) in Jasper National Park. The view is from just at the treeline. The hike up to the lookout from the lake is a bit over 5 kilometers (about 3.5 miles) and had about 8" of snow by the time I reached the top - would have been easier 30 or 40 years ago!!! Sorry but I don't know the names of all the peaks - I'll try to add those later. Not too much wildlife at this elevation - woodland carib...

Looking west from the Sky Terrace above the Leprino Family Atrium at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. In the foreground is City Park. The Denver skyline is in the distance, and the Rocky Mountain Front Range is in the background. The peaks include Longs Peak to the north, Mt. Evans near the center, and Pikes Peak to the south.
