This is the same Hanauma Bay panorama as http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=4450. It's 70 columns X 25 rows of individual 8 megapixel frames stitched almost seamlessly by the GigaPan stitcher. Wave movement and people movement result in some interesting, often fun, stitching results, though.Mahalo nui loa to Scott Telstad for fixing the exposur...

Hanauma Bay from the steps along the north rim: 25 rows x 70 columns. Mahalo nui loa to Randy Sargent for stitching this beast! Banding, again, due to strong trade winds and continuous cloud banks. Too many people to use the "pause" function efficiently, so I just let the body parts accumulate.

A beautiful afternoon at Waikiki. I took the panorama from the Kapiolani Park end of Waikiki at the Kapahulu Pier/breakwater. The view is towards the NorthWest. Lots of water movement and people movement make for many interesting discoveries.

Hawaii Pacific University Modern Media Systems class on the Fort Street Mall in Downtown Honolulu. Question of the day: how can a collaboration that includes Carnegie Mellon University, NASA, GOOGLE, National Geographic, and faculty and students at Hawaii Pacific University expand our understanding of modern media systems? In other words, what emerging, unique potentials are being leveraged by these institutions and their communities in our network of networks project? In part this image con...

This nature loop trail is on the way to the Waimea Canyon on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. the gigapan was done by three students Amber Harder, Kanoe Sakihama (Both Kauai Community College) and Alison Yamamoto(Kapaa High School)
the subject of the gigapan is a stand of Iliau ( Wilksia gymoxiphium) a ancient sunflower that arrived in the Hawaiian islands some seven million years ago on probably a bird. The isolation of the islands and the environmental conditions through adaptive radiation cr...

Tantalas lookout, in Hawaii, Oahu. During this time there was a slight VOG (Volcanic pollution). The camera I have is not so great (got to get a new one...). This one is a second set to the other one I made with more detail.

Steam spewing from Halema'uma'u vent on the summit of Kilauea Volcano, Hawai'i. Any suggestions for eliminating the vertical streaking on the image would be appreciated.

This diminutive endemic Kauai lobelia, Cyanea asarifolia, is now presumed extinct in the wild. It's range was restricted to the base of 3,000 ft. cliffs at the "Blue Hole" at the base of Mt. Wai`ale`ale, the rainiest spot on Earth. These plantlets, when grown to sufficient size in a greenhouse, may one day be planted back into this species' native range to attempt to reestablish a wild, self-sustaining population.

This is a 6-shot handheld panorama taken along the ridge of the extinct Kohala volcano. This is looking WSW down the coastline but unfortunately the vog is obscuring anything beyond about 10 miles.
