GigaPans

These spectacular cliffs along the Ka`iwi Coast of O`ahu are next to the parking lot for the Moloka`i Lookout, between Hanauma Bay and the Hālona Blowhole. One cloud bank passed by, giving a dark band at about the 40% area. This is a 18 row x 48 column image. I thought it would be much larger, but I probably set the angle of view incorrectly and got too much overlap between images. How many fishermen can you find?

I have had the fortune to go to the Twelve Apostles twice now and both times it has been hazy. No big deal, just wish I could have taken a GigaPan on a nice clear day. Marshfield Cliffs as viewed from a beaver marsh south of cliffs. These cliffs are on Marshfield Mountain in Marshfield, Vermont, USA. This is a late autumn/early winter view. Snow flurry occurred the night prior to the photo, but most melted prior to the shoot. There were breaks in the clouds during the shoot, which led to the bright spot on the gigapan, and made me switch the camera exposure and speed midstream.

The White House Overlook. The classic postcard photos you may have seen do not portray well the scale of this canyon and its collection of ancient Anasazi indian ruins. This view of the ruins tucked into a cleft in the sheer rock face seen from 800 feet up and across the canyon also shows the meandering river and the farm and livestock of those Navajo who live both on the canyon floor and along the high ridges on both sides.

Finally, I've reached the Cascades! And what a view!

The rocks of North Cascades National Park are not the Quaternary volcanics that make up the modern Cascade volcanic arc (those are coming - be patient, Richard). Rather, these rocks are the deeply eroded basement of earlier arcs and accreted terranes. There are a variety of alpine glacial features visible in this shot.

I shot this from halfway up a rock face. Railay Beach is a small peninsula located between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang. Accessible only by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere.
