This view is from my mother-in-law's deck. Just a typical neighborhood on a cloudy day. |

The Howrah Bridge is a bridge that spans the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It was originally named the New Howrah Bridge because it links the city of Howrah to its twin city, Kolkata (Calcutta). On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu, after Rabindranath Tagore a great poet and the first Indian Nobel laureate. However it is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge.
The bridge is one of three on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal. Apart from bearing the stormy weather of the Bay of Bengal region, it successfully bears the weight of a daily traffic of approximately 150,000 vehicles and 4,000,000 pedestrians. It is the sixth longest bridge of its type in the world. ************************************************************** Please contact Shashi Mettu at + 00-91-98495-30995 for Prints / Enlargements and Busssiness enquiries *********************************************************** |

Canon G10 144 frames app. 270 degs. West Beach in Bowmanville Ontario. Distant building on the left is St Mary's Cement. While I don't know for a fact, I've been informed they have a series of mining shafts running below Lake Ontario, mining for limestone or some such mineral, used in the production of cement. Odd black smudges are sand flies in front of the lens. There were swarming all over the place while I was taking this series. (Tried taking your advice with this pan Sonny (Castillonis). It certainly seems to work better, but dang it all, I loose the digital zoom. Have you used the teleconverter for the G10? Does the teleconverter adversely affect the quality like it does on a 35mm?) |

This gigapan was taken a few days after a large snow storm hit the high desert area. My next door neighbor remarked that he hadn't seen this much snow in all of the years he's been living here. |
