A unparalleled beautiful view of Rochester is from the High Falls. This gagapan is a first in a series of views of downtown Rochester looking at the city from the High Falls bridge. For each season, a new gigapan will be taken showcasing this spectacular view of the city! This view represents a panoramic view of the Genesee River 96-foot waterfall and spectacular gorge and a visit to an urban cultural park that celebrates Rochester's earliest industrial area started during the Flour City era. Photographers Note - This picture was taken on January 10, 2010 the day after the temperature in Rochester dipped down to almost 0 degrees! This GigaPan consists of 645 individual pictures stiched together, creating a 658 megapixel panogramic, with each picture taken at a focal length of 200mm. |

Ledge trail is a long abandoned trail that runs from the backside of Curry Village up to Glacier Point. About half way up you can cross the creek and climb up the rocks to this spectacular view. At one time power or telephone lines ran up this way, and there are a trio of eyehooks embedded in the rocks, thus my name for this spot, "Eyehook Point". From here you can see down into Yosemite Valley with a panorama that goes from Yosemite Falls to Nevada Fall and everything in between. Royal Arches, Washington Column, North Dome, Tenaya Canyon, Half Dome, Mt Watkins etc.

In honor of Rochester’s 175th Anniversary, the City and the Veterans Outreach Center will present a special Veterans Day Concert featuring the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and special guests under the direction of Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik.
The Veterans Day RPO POPS Spectacular will pay tribute to Rochester’s military veterans by providing area residents an opportunity to enjoy jazz and patriotic-themed music performed by the RPO Pops for just $5 a ticket. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. It will also feature performances by the Roberts Wesleyan College Chorale and trumpeter Byron Stripling. “I cannot think of a better way to celebrate the anniversary of Rochester than by honoring our veterans, especially in a time of war,” said Mayor Duffy. “We are fortunate to have one of America’s greatest orchestras right here in our city to help us mark this celebration with a heart-pounding musical performance.” Photographers Note - This GigaPan is complete at 230 photos and is 495 megapixels in size. |

FIND THE MONKEY 2: My little monkey friend is hiding in the shot twice. Who can find and bookmark him first?
Portmeirion is a beautiful Italian style village in the north west of Wales. Built by Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1975 it is now a tourist resort and hotel. It was made famous in the 1960s as the location of The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan. This one is 1060 shots taken on my Canon SX1. Epic powered by external 12v battery with 7.5 volt converter so that it didn't fail part way through. See also http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/43617/ |

Only two miles from Christchurch, Mudeford is a charming fishing village lying at the entrance to Christchurch Harbour.
G9 Canon cameras with the auto focus lock still not set it right? Just to make it more interesting I Photoshop the images which make the sky stand out more. |
