The Sandpiper is a traditional bed and breakfast located on California’s North coast in Elk California. The rooms have a great view of a cove and the surf. A large and lush garden exists on the surf side with a bench or two. This is a fine place to watch the sunset and have a little wine. The rooms here are comfortable and traditional.

This is the second of three GigaPans I took on the 21st of December 2008 of the Twelve Apostles. The first picture was taken just out of view in the right center of the picture where the elevated walkway goes out of sight.
Since I couldn't put it any more concisely, here is a description from www.visitvictoria.com The Twelve Apostles are giant rock stacks that rise majestically from the Southern Ocean and are the central feature of the rugged Port Campbell National Park. The Twelve Apostles are the remnants from constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland that began 10-20 million years ago. The stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs. The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore. The Twelve Apostles are located just east of Port Campbell, along the Great Ocean Road. - visitvictoria.com |

Taken from the View Lounge on top of the Marriott in San Fransico, looking west away from downtown. Visibility was not superb, so I may return and take the photo again on a more clear evening. Some opportunites for more excitement might also present themsevles when the convention center is hosting a large converence, or closer to the busy holiday season. |

On Tuesday morning, December 29, 2008 Virginia Gunderson drove me and my Gigapan up South Mountain onto property her great grandfather homesteaded in the 1860s. The view of Santa Paula is from about the same elevation as the pano I took of South Mountain a month or so earlier. The Santa Clara River is in the center with the Santa Paula Airport next to it. |

Bodie is a well preserved ghost town that is now a state park. Read more about it here:
http://www.bodie.com/ This panorama is 1/2 of a 3D photo. The other photo is here: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=9201 The only way that I can offer to view these images is to open each one in its own GigaPan browser window. One can view using the crossed view method described here: http://home.comcast.net/~holographics/cross.html Some of us have mirror arragements that are used to make maps or dedicated to this sort of purpose (usually not panoramas). These use parallel viewing. The difference is that crossed images have the right image on the left and parrallel is the opposite way. It will take some effort to lineup the right an left images and make the scale the same in both. But it does provide a 3D 360 panoramic view. Now if we could only control both instances with one mouse! Have fun! |

I have had the fortune to go to the Twelve Apostles twice now and both times it has been hazy. No big deal, just wish I could have taken a GigaPan on a nice clear day. In this GigaPan, the different colors of the cliff on the right are from where the sun did come out of the clouds for a while and then went back behind the clouds. The washed out area in the middle is where the sun came out, and the colorful areas are where the sun was behind the clouds. This is the first of three GigaPans I took here.
