This location in the regional preserve is North of Livermore California by about ten miles. It is about thirty miles from Berkeley California. The area is really rather remote for being so close to urban areas. It is great to have parks and hills. Mount Diablo is the peak that you see.
The image consited of 1600 images of 9 megapixels each to produce an image of 210,000 by about 20,000 pixels to make a 4 gigapixel image. There was a great deal of image overlap. It took two ales to complete the exposure of this image. It also took six days for my dual core to process this. |

Taken during Memorial Day weekend from the new Nichols Bridgeway at the north end of the art institute on Monroe street. The center of the image shows the Jay Priztker outdoor pavilion in Millenium Park. It was very windy on the bridge! |

Syri i kalter is a natural spring believed to be fed by Ioanina lake in Greece. Divers have not yet been able to touch the bottom. The name is said to come from a sound engineer who worked for some years in the nearby hydropower station, and compared the spring with the blue eyes of his fiancée.
I'd been here once before three years prior and told my wife I wanted to swim in it the next time. Of course, she thought that was crazy. We made it back late in the afternoon, on September 4, 2009. The sun was setting and the colors were not as brilliant as before, but the spot was still beautiful. I setup the gigapan and quickly stripped down to my shorts, standing on the shore line while my wife watched carefully the direction of the Gigapan robot. One her cue, I dove in and felt a cold shock the likes of which I'd never felt -- and probably hope to avoid in the future. I started swimming furiously across the short distance, but my muscles had to work much harder than I expected and it seemed to take a while to get to the other side. Exhilerating but pretty scary too. In order to get in this shot, I had to time it perfectly. I wasn't sure the gigapan was going to capture me and was very pleased to see that it did. Picture was taken from the platform just below the scoreboard in the south end zone and was taken just as people were entering the stadium two hours before the game. Estimates placed the crowd at over 50,000 to watch the annual Spring Game and included an Alumni flag football game beforehand and also a tour of the locker room.

Springtime blooms in the flowerbeds beside Albertson Hall on the FHSU campus. |

The mushrooms were feeling the "fierce urgency of now" as spring began to warm the FHSU campus.
While this isn't exactly what I'd call a macro Gigapan, I have been trying to experiment with smaller fields of view. This one worked extremely well with autofocus rather than fixed focus enabled. The detail is really pretty remarkable thanks to the full 12x zoom of the Canon S5 IS. |

360 degree Gigapan of St James' churchyard in Old Town Poole. This was taken by Alex Otto of Bournemouth University, and Alice Ralph and Denis Roberts of The Study Gallery of Modern Art. This Gigapan features many points of historical interest - see if you can spot some of them!
While we were photographing this, a man from the church came out and spoke to us. He explained that the church has funding to refurbish the grounds and will be knocking down the external wall that runs around the grassy area. It'll be interesting to go back and do another Gigapan in a year or so once they have finished the refurbishment. |

Shot this pano while having a day out enjoying the beautiful weather of April 2009.
This year we had a nice rainfall so I decided to capture part of the green landscape at Habaka hills. Parts of Irbid city, Edoun, Al-Husun, Al-Sareeh, even Al-Ramtha and JUST can bee seen from this spot. حبكا ، المنطقة المطلة على الحصن Shots: 83 Date: 10 April 2009 17:34:46 Camera: Canon DIGITAL IXUS 900Ti Tripod: SLIK Master Classic |

One of the nicest looking houses in town, IMHO. I really covet that turret room and I love the wraparound porch. If only I had a big enough family and income to afford it... |
