This is a big gigapan I shot on Saturday evening. It's a huge Gigapan and took 16 hours to stitch. 47 images wide X 23 images tall totaling 1081 images.
I missed some of the balloons on the first pass so I backed the unit up and reshot a section. The lighter background in the sky was caused when I readjusted the exposure during shooting. The sun was setting fast and light was fading. A bit of work in progress. This is just a winter project to keep idle hands busy! This is an electric powered radio controled airplane with two electric motors. It is also a biplane as you can see by the many wings. |

Located in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, southeast of Edmonton, the Hall contains dozens of rare aircraft, some unique like the full size replica of the CF-105 AVRO Arrow.
See how many of the planes on display you can identify (with a snapshot) This GigaPan was subject to some vibration during shutter release causing some slight blurring on some frames. Will be doing a re-shoot in a few months. |

I am uploading this Gigapan a second time after cropping off the jagged edges and replacing the mountain top image that was blurry in the initial upload on June 11, 2009.
My experimental decision to use the "Infinity" focus on the Nikon P90 for this Gigapan worked out generally OK. However, in the left bottom foreground the rocks and dandilions, surprisingly were sometimes in focus and other times not. It would be interesting to try to shoot a Gigapan where objects close to the camera were in sharp focus as well as those in the distance. It would take a lot of time and processing work, but it seems possible to reshoot and replace some of the single tiled images to create this effect. |

The Lake Hood Seaplane Base has three water-surface runways on two lakes which are connected by a canal. You are looking across Lake Spenard in the near field, and across Lake Hood in the distance.
This complex is the busiest seaplane base in the world, averaging almost 200 operations a day. If you walk around the lakes, you will see all kinds of float planes parked in slips and by docks. Wikipedia says that there are 781 planes based here. Most of them belong to private pilots, but there are air taxis and tours available for your Alaska Adventure. Beyond Lake Hood is the Anchorage International Airport. The photograph doesn't show the gravel runway of the Lake Hood Airstrip. The 32 images of this panorama were captured on the dock at the Millennium Hotel using a Nikon D80. They were stitched with Autopano Pro. |
