This 2nd shot on this popular recreational location shows a lot of bathing and playing people. This time I only shot 231 photo's because I was afraid that too many loose limbs and twisted people would be show up due to the movement. Actually it wasn't too bad, I spend 3.5 hours to manipulate 25 photo's in such a way that the same playing or moving people would show up on surrounding photo's. I think the result is worth exploring ! Apart from water ripples I think I caught the most noticable stitching errors ! If you start on the right side you will find a waterski track with 2 skiers plowing away and 2 fallen ones wondering what to do next. Next you can find boys playing with a frisbee and others with a ball in the water. Further to the left you can find countless people sunbathing and swimming on the next 3 beaches. I stitched it on Mercator projection so that I can stretch it as an impressive sample on Canvas from Kodak (330 ppi input resolution on 600 dpi print of 1 by 6 meter). The first shot on this location is composed of 414 photo's and will be normally projected and geocoded so that you can see it on Google Earth ! It may take me a while to correct the gosts and twisted people on that 1775 Megapixel shot, so please check back later. |

Oops, all our clones escaped into the CITY PARK. We tried to catch them but there are simply just too many!
Can you help us locate them all? We are also desperatly trying to locate the cloning machine, since they keep coming in larger numbers! |

How many times can we be seen in this panorama of my friend's backyard?
Take snapshots for each of us. |

This wednesday we decided to go a day to the beach. The one we chose was the one on the Brouwersdam because of it's size. It's many hundreds of meters wide and very long, meaning that there is always plenty of room. Even on this day when thousands of people went there. Some people just ignored the unit, others kept a watchful eye on it. And I think some explicitly posed. We had a great day at the beach. We came there late, partially because of traffic jams, but we made it a long day by just staying until after sunset. The entire day gave us, including the pans, well over 1000 pictures. Many very nice. I made three pans, drawing the attention of many people. This one was done with the 18-105 lens set at 105mm. Depth of field is not deep, but where is is focussed, it is nice and sharp. The other two were made with the same lens at the 58mm setting and the 18mm position. One just as wide as this one, the 58mm, which does not really make a big difference. The other one at 18mm I made very tall. The max vertical range. Unfortunately the stitcher did not understand that. Half of the image shows two rows of beach just above eachother. Not sure if I will upload those. |

(EDIT: Watch my second take here http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=29579)
My first ever Gigapan, actually just a test. And a new camera to do it with, a Nikon D90. And guess what I did ... yes, I forgot to switch the whitebalance back to normal after having taken pictures at an indoor swimming pool yesterday. I did notice that after the first run, so I tried again. But at the same time I switched lenses to a tele. And there I made a newbie mistake, I forgot to adjust the field of view setting. So those pictures have too many gaps to be stiched. The weather was good, sunny and dry, but unfortunately no blue sky. All reasons for trying again in the near future. So watch out for more. PS If you are a gigapan maker too, near me, get in contact so we can team up. What about a stereaoscopic gigapan, hmmm ? |

The sun setting as seen from the north of amsterdam. Shot by hand with a Nikon D80 and the 50 mm/1.8 prime nikkor lens. 22 images, stiched with APP
This: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=8978 is about the same view during daytime and at 200mm |

This artificial Ski slope belongs to Ski-centrum "Jorg Moser", and is located in the recreational park "Rutbeek" near Enschede ( www.skicentrummoser.nl ). This was supposed to become a 360 degree panorama, but rainfall made me stop at 250 degrees (otherwise it would have been a 8600 megapixel photo).
Apart from the Ski school with its restaurant and the beaches of lake "Rutbeek", you can see the city of Enschede, the famous beer brewery of "Grolsch" and the soccer stadium "FC Twente". I will go back at a later date with better weather to try again, because this clearly is the highest point in the area. Since the distance views were not quite sharp either, I will then try different focus settings as well. Although the Focus was manually set to the indefinite, the safety MF function was turned on (which is supposed to fine tune the focus in a small range around the manually set focus point). This function doesn't seem to improve the focus for the far away area's, but the cloudy weather might also cause this less then optimal focus result (any comments on that matter will be welcomed). |
