Steam spewing from Halema'uma'u vent on the summit of Kilauea Volcano, Hawai'i. Any suggestions for eliminating the vertical streaking on the image would be appreciated. |

The place was crowded, I sad and controlled the pictures, pausing as people walked into the shot.

More fun with large scale gigapanography and non-static subject matter. Puffs of sulfur laden steam makes focusing on the vents themselves a real challenge. It's easy to see where the camera focused on the steam instead of the rocks behind. You can also see the size of each frame in this 20 row x 30 column gigapan.
I'll try this another time using manual focus for each frame - pause the GigaPan unit after the first frame, and move one frame at a time using the "Forward" button. No worries about "Time per Pic" issues, either. |

This is a 7-shot handheld panorama of the main vent in the Kilauea Iki crater. Through this vent shot a lava fountain nearly 1900 feet high in 1959. |

I took this 32 frame hand held right before the rain arrived, so no 400 frame gigapan. I'll return in early May to try again. |
