Carnegie Mellon University's CREATE Lab demonstrated robots to passersby on Craig Street in Pittsburgh on Park(ing) Day, September 18, 2009.
For more info: http://my.parkingday.org/group/parkingdaypittsburgh http://createlab.ri.cmu.edu/ Photographic notes: Stitched at 50% resolution. This gigapan has problems: The memory card filled up about 90% of the way through shooting, and when I set up for the final 10%, the camera's zoom had changed. The memory card that I used for the first 90% must have been slow, because occasionally it would fail to write the image file, so some pictures in the grid got dropped. I wrote a Python program that looked at the time between pictures to help me locate the gaps, and filled them with a blocky gray photo. Without that I never would have been able to stitch this at all. |

Each year up to 10,000 visiting aircraft - of all shapes, sizes and varieties - make Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world. This gigapan was shot Saturday morning. It only has a few bad spots in the stitching caused by people walking in front of the lens.
This shot includes: f-16 , falcon , f-15 , c5m galaxy , c-17 globemaster iii , c-130 , erickson sky crane , dc-3 named “duggy” , cv-2b caribou , p-51 mustang , a-10 thunderbolt , f4u corsair, e-2c hawkeye, ford tri-motor, b-17 flying fortress, pitts model 12, gulf stream to name a few. This was a fantastic event and had so many amazing aricraft new and old. I will be posting some videos from the event on youtube.com including the A380 taking off from Oshkosh 2009. I hope you enjoy and please email with comments! http://www.airventure.org/ |

Who says you can't heard kittens? The kids at Lawrence Elementary did an amazing job of following directions while posing for this pan. There are a few artifacts to clean-up but considering the situation and the time it took to capture the shot the outcome is pretty impressive. Initiallly, the picture would have been taken with fewer subjects but the camera system caught attention quickly and before the shot was set-up we had a bunch of participants as we as an audience while the moment was captured. The background is pretty interesting as well with few ghosts given the nature of the shot. Shot again on a Canon G10 at full zoom this is a 5x8 canvas of 15MP photographs |

Taken using a Nikkor 70-200 mm 2.8 lens and hand-held. Included are a bunch of nice kids on a scavenger hunt conducted around Hermann Park who just happened to be there when I was there. |

The adventure playground in Berkeley is awesome! You can make real stuff - towering forts out of wood, plus there is a great zip line and lots more fun. |
