This north end of the lake has the nicest beaches where glacial rivers built deltas 13,600 years ago. The northernmost part of the lake, to the right, is surrounded by a low sandy plain which is the largest delta complex. This plain is the location of Camp Keewaydin, Camp Songadeewin, and some of the older summer cottages.
I was waiting for a clearer day to retake this panorama from August 1, but it never happened. The distant landscape is so hazy that the stitcher added an extra mountain ridge. Now I realize that I am the only one who would ever notice that. |

From Mt Banna recreational area looking out over Nagura. We had lunch here and some time for the students from Kauai to relax and play during which time I could set up and take this gigapan of Nagura. This is the central area of Ishigaki and the primary industry is sugar cane( satokibi). Rich agricultural land. |

I am trying to use the gigapan in many different ways. This is Kuura on the northern Hirakubo peninsula. This is the Pacific ocean view. Note the extensive reef system. This panorama is taken from the paraglider jump site. |

One of the most beautiful spots on Ishigaki Island. On the north western part of the island, green and blue waters and white sand beaches. No swimming but many glass bottom boats to see the coral reefs. site of black pearl cultivation. This beautiful example of nature is also a reflection of the wonderful hospitality of the people ofIshigaki. |
