This Gigapan was taken at an elevation of 200ft above sea level, from the Twin Lights Lighthouse in Highlands, New Jersey. The nearby Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook is at an elevation of 266 ft and is the highest place on the eastern seaboard, between southern Maine and the Yucatan in Mexico!
Sandy Hook is the seven mile sand peninsula in the foreground that jutes out into Raritan Bay south of New York. A unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area and part of the National Parks of New York Harbor, it also includes Fort Hancock, a disused miltary base. Check out the snapshots and you can see the Statue of Liberty over 20 miles away, the Verrazano Narrows Bridge between Staten Island and Brooklyn, the Empire State Building in Manhattan and the Parachute Ride and the Wonder Wheel on Cooney Island! This Gigapan was taken using a Nikon D300 with a Tokina 80-400mm at 400mm (600mm 35mm equivalent). For more Gigapans of Sandy Hook see http://gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=brianlr+sandy+hook |

The Helicopter pad at Base Primavera had a great view of Cierva Cove. We spend some time taking in the view and making photographs.
I was surprised by all of this green in Antarctica. The rocks were verdent with grasses and mosses, and we had to watch where we stepped to avoid the vegetation. The ice of Cierva Cove is a magnificent sight, either from the helicopter pad or from the deck of a zodiac. To the geologists among you, I hope that you enjoy the rocks of the Antarctic Peninsula, |

Cierva Cove is on the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula, nestled in the north of Hughs Bay. Base Primavera is an Argentine research station on Cierva Point. The base is open only in the summer, and we were fortunate enough to arrive on a brilliant day just before the station closed for 2008. The ice-strewn cove provides plenty of opportunities for folks who admire big ice. Among the gravel and rocks, we found lichens, mosses and a few vascular plants giving a surprising variety of color to the landscape by the station. The 15 digital images of this panorama were captured with a hand-held Nikon D80 and stitched with Autopano Pro. |

The cove on a midday afternoon. North West Cove is known for its picutesque beauty and inshore fishing & lobster catches. |

As you can see there is some blank spaces in this photograph.I was sat on top of Worbarrow Tout hill and the wind was very strong.
Worbarrow Bay is a large broad and shallow bay just to the east of Lulworth Cove in Dorset, England, and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It exposes a sequence of Cretaceous rocks from the Chalk to the west through to the Purbeck Beds in the east, where they form the promontory known as Worbarrow Tout. This is arguably one of the best coastal sections of the Cretaceous in Europe.[citation needed] Worbarrow Bay is only accessible when the Lulworth army firing ranges are open to the public. It can be reached by a 1.4-kilometre (0.9 mi) walk down an easy track alongside Tyneham Gwyle, from the car park alongside the ghost village of Tyneham. The northwest end of the bay is known as Cow Corner. |
