This GigaPan was taken with an Olympus e510 (custom bracket) and the 40-150mm kit lens set at 100 (200mm equivalent). This was taken at almost peak foliage color. The green is evergreen trees and oak that turns dirty brown later. |

The stunning color of these trees amazed me during my drive in to work this morning. This panorama is one of several that Emily Hamner and I took together, in hopes of capturing their beauty. This was the first attempt, which we realized halfway through was taken with auto exposure and auto focus. I think the colors of the trees came out much better here than in Maple Trees 2 (http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=1240). |

One wall of an exhibit of my photoetchings. The exhibit shows the process of printing a 4-color photoetching using Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black inks. This exhibit, that I called "The Anatomy of a Photoetching", came about as a way to show the process of photoetching to all the people who asked me how I made my images. |

Looking in from the north end of the garden, we can see what little remains of the fall color. |

Virginia Lakes begins to turn harsh in early October. The nights drop below freezing at 9.800 foot elevation here at today's snow line. The cold nights snap some colors into the aspens just before the wind strips the leaves right off. Snow may be seen falling at higher elevations and it was falling on me when I took this panorama. The dramatic weather is one of the best and one of the worst aspects of this time of year.
This one might make a very good large print after I remove the flare using the adjacent frame's image. Sunward shots have the advantage of making the leaves look like transparencies, but the disadvantage of flare. toeppen@comcast.net |

This is conservation land near Heald Pond in the town of Pepperell in northen Massachusetts. The orchard isn't active, and it shows. The fall foliage color of the maple trees to the right is striking, but is threatened in the long run by climate and other changes. |
