Barcelona's Montjuïc is a broad shallow hill with a relatively flat top overlooking the harbour, to the southeast of the city centre. The eastern side of the hill is almost a sheer cliff, giving it a commanding view over the city's harbour immediately below. The top of the hill (a height of 173 metres) was the site of several fortifications, the latest of which (the Castell de Montjuïc) remains today.
The Port of Barcelona has a 2000-year history and a great contemporary commercial importance. It is Europe's ninth largest container port, with a trade volume of 2.3 million TEU's in 2006. The port is managed by the Port Authority of Barcelona. Its 7.86 km2 (3 sq mi) are divided into three zones: Port Vell (the Old Port), the commercial port and the logistics port (Barcelona Free Port). The port is undergoing an enlargement that will double its size thanks to diverting the mouth of the Llobregat river 2 km (1¼ mi) to the south. The Port Vell (old port) area also houses the Maremagnum (a commercial mall), a multiplex cinema, the IMAX Port Vell and an aquarium. |

Tavazo-e-Bustan Nut Store is located in Bustan shopping center near Punak Square. I was walking in Bustan shopping center that I found this beautiful store. At first I thought maybe it is not a good place for a panorama because of the little space and distance from the camera, but fortunately I decided to give it a try. I love the result.

Barcelona is the capital and most populous city of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. It is the central nucleus of the Urban Region of Barcelona, which relies on a population of about 5.5 million. It is located on the Mediterranean coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs and is limited to the west by the Serra de Collserola ridge (512 m/1,680 ft).

There is a parable in Matthew 25 that speaks of feeding the poor. I believe that these words from 2000 years ago, as well as words from other religions of the world, create a foundation of the rich giving food to the poor and of wealthy nations providing sustenance to the poor nations that are in need. I am impressed by what Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church is doing and have created this panorama to show others what some people in Houston are doing on the local level to give nourishment to those who are in need. The successful launch of STS-129, Space Shuttle Atlantis on its way to the International Space Station. The shuttle launched at 2:28pm on November 16, 2009 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This gigapan was taken in a single shot, no post-production, capturing the launch as the second column shot. |

An Update: The actual names of these two insects was provided to me by a very nice lady who works for the Museum of Natural Science and the correction has been applied. Actually, it is called the Cockrell Butterfly Center and Insect Zoo, but I have always heard it as the Butterfly Wing of the Museum. At any one time, it seems like there may be thousands of butterflies in this enclosure and in this particular panorama, we see a museum volunteer holding a Orange Giant Prickly Stick with Green Moving Leaf insect on his chest. Walking around the Texas Medical Center provides lots of surprises as well as nice moments when first meeting people on a common ground. Both happened today: the un-named statue and then meeting a very nice woman from Venezuela here in Houston doing her Residency. There are many panoramas as well as wonderful people to be found in the Texas Medical Center, Hermann Park and Rice University and today, I found both.
This hand-held panorama was taken with a Nikon D70, using a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor lens. The sunlight was nil, but all-in-all, I am very pleased with this effort, especially not knowing at the time that the exposure was right-on the button. |
