The Minnesota located in St Paul was designed by Cass Gilbert and modeled after Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome - the unsupported marble dome is the second largest in the world, after Saint Peter's. Work began on the capitol in 1896, and construction was completed in 1905. Above the southern entrance to the building is a gilded quadriga called The Progress of the State which was sculpted by Daniel Chester French and Edward Clark Potter. It was completed and raised to the roof of the capitol in 1906. The base of the building and interior spaces used varieties of native stone, including Kasota stone, and the rare Pipestone used by Native Americans for their peace pipes. |

This is the Belle Island Pedestrian Bridge and part of the Richmond Virginia skyline.
The pedestrian bridge is tucked under the Robert E. Lee Bridge, which is the span of Route 1 over the James River. It is surrounded by interesting things to see, like trains, the piling of the old Robert E. Lee Bridge and river rocks and rapids. Belle Island is a great place to spend an afternoon. Although there are some steep trails for dirt bikes and more seasoned hikers, the footpath around the island is gentle enough for novice and less ambitious walkers. I was impressed with the country setting nestled among the buildings and highways of the State Capital. Matt, thank you for showing me this place and for helping me make this panorama of a view with two moons. |

Capital Computer Center is probably the most famous place in Tehran (and probably Iran) which you can buy digitally devices (Laptops, Digital Cameras, Memories, Printers & Scanners, Software, ...). I bought my laptop from here.

These 26 hand-held images were taken from the City of Rensselaer looking east, across the Hudson River. State government buildings are found on the north side of the panorama, while the Port of Albany dominates the south half of the photograph. |

Here is a view of the East side of Washington DC, towards the Capital Building. This pano had a terrible RMS value of around 6, so the quality is not as good. Taken on Saturday, 31 January 2009. |

This panorama of the Empire State Plaza, which is also known as the South Mall, was taken the day after Christmas. Notice the State Christmas Tree on the left. The mall has a lot of open space surrounded by towering skyscrapers and unusually-shaped buildings. I have heard that it is the most recognizable of State Capitals. I suspect that the Egg earned it this reputation. There weren't many people here on December 26, but browse around to see some interesting architecture and art. |
