spacer Student Lockers (after 10-12 years) in the Photography & Digital Imaging Program. Holland College Charlottetown, PE Canada. Had only so much time to retouch so not perfect seams but I wanted to try this asap as the lockers are quite a feature and fun to read. This image is made from 9 frames from our 22mp Mamiya ZD with 35mm lens. Hope to have our robot in the next few weeks (and refurbished G9).

Well, it took 3 months due to various issues but we have the robot finally (and the G-9) and hope to do some tests soon and post images of PEI.

spacer You are looking at a photo of Kelowna British Columbia in April of 2009 made with a digital slr on a tripod, with ten frames composed using a 50mm lens and the camera vertical. The camera records 8mp images, and the 50mm lens angle of view in vertical alignment allowed 15 degree intervals between captures. I have several different versions of the same image, this one was the widest so I have reposted it in lieu of the earlier ones.
The view is from the south-west to north-west, looking from Okanagan Mountain Park on the left, to Lake Country on the right.
Thanks for looking and feel free to take snapshots.

‘This View of Life’ showcases the melding of artistic and scientific disciplines in this year of celebration for Charles Darwin. This group exhibition presents recent work from contemporary Canadian artists and features collaborative projects created with scientists from the University of Guelph.

The investigation of evolutionary theory is not limited to the lab, field or fossil bed. Darwinian theory, after a century and a half, continues to inspire creativity which perpetuates the evolution of these ideas in their own right. Forms of expression can be compared to instruments of observation, magnifying some aspects of evolution while masking or distorting others. These exhibits offer unique perspectives into the nature and scope of biological novelty, organic variation, and evolving life forms.

The reception featured artwork, biological specimens, and presentations by project participants. Artwork is exhibited at the Ed Video Gallery and in the Atrium of the Science Complex for the duration of the show.

The setup was also GigaPan-ed: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/35023/

The red brick Gooderham Building (commonly referred to as the Flatiron Building) at 49 Wellington Street East in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is located on the eastern edge of the city's financial district (east of Yonge Street), on the north side of the Front Street (St. Lawrence) neighbourhood wedged between Front Street and Wellington Street, where they join up to form a triangular intersection. Although a prominent landmark both for its colour and shape, it is only five storeys high. It is also the first flatiron building in a major city.

It was built in 1892. The previous building was shorter but in the same shape and was called the Coffin Block. It was built by architect David Roberts, Jr. and originally cost $18,000 to construct for distiller George Gooderham, son of the founder William Gooderham. It was the office of the Gooderham & Worts distillery until 1952 and sold by the Gooderham Estate in 1957.

It is well-known both for its narrow wedge shape, and for the mural on its back wall, which uses a trompe l'oeil effect to not only make the wall appear to have more windows than it does, but to also give it a more mobile effect by having its edges 'fluttering' away where they are not 'tacked' down. The mural, called Trompe.d'oille, was created by renowned Canadian artist Derek Michael Besant. The mural is a picture of the Perkins Building, which is located directly across the street. Saved by David and Thomas Walsh, restoration took place in 1998 by the owners Michael and Anne Tippin. The building was declared a historic site in 1975 and is now managed and owned by Woodcliffe Corporation.

2nd week of Dairy Bush Seasonal GigaPan

The Doll's eyes (Actaea pachypoda) have peaked and are almost gone. Near downed tree there's a plant with berries.

Still loads of mosquitoes around.

spacer This old cabin sits by the road into Wells Gray Park about 20 km north of Clearwater, BC. Autumn colors were at their optimum. I'm also trying to find some history about this cabin as it was built by one of the early pioneers in this area.

Using a relatively long focal length I locked the focus on the corner of the cabin so the background is in relatively soft focus with a shallow depth of field.

spacer The view looking west of the southern Okanagan city on Osooyos Lake which straddles the Canada-US border in southern British Columbia. Thousands of acres of vineyards and orchards produce many of Canada's finest wines and tree fruits is this little vest-pocket desert. See if you can pick out the Dutch windmill which is about 3 km from the camera...This has to be one of the greatest panoramas in Canada...there's even a pull-out on Highway 3 where you can stop and take in the view.
That's sagebrush in the near foreground.

Composed of 405 shots (45x9), FOV 3.9 degrees, 420mm EFL, Polarizing filter

Ok, let's see how long this takes to upload on my dial-up...I'm guessing about 150 hours. ;o) Neat thing about this uploader, even when my modem disconnects after 12 hours it still keeps the upload going for about 10-15 minutes until I reconnect the modem. It must have a big buffer.
