This is #5, the last in my Manhattan Beach Pier Christmas Gigapan series. The view is South to Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Peninsula and Catalina Island. The new moon shined above the ocean while the Christmas lights on the pier glowed. By time the scene was complete it was dark, making for a few long exposures 70 shots, Nikon P5100, ©John Post |

Sutro Baths area 4 days later than my previous. I've included the other part of the area that wasn't in my previous panorama. I also sharpened the pictures so you can see more details.
I found numerous activities taking place, from fishing, surfing, jet skiing, climbing, animal/bird watching to hiking. Interestingly there's a person sitting by a seal that had clearly died and was bloated, thus decomposing and smelling. To compare the area 4 days previous see http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27746 |

House of the Dove is Deacon Dave's most publically appreciated work. The 301,000 lights, scenes, trains, fountain, and pools are a big draw. This work is the product of the efforts of many somewhat large elves. |

Memorial Day Weekend, 2009 at Ventura Harbor, California. This was done using the Gigapan Epic 100 and a Canon S5 IS, this is 750 images at 12x zoom. Each shot was 80 ISO, with an aperature of 4.5. This took almost 90 minutes to shoot. Each shot was repeated three times using the Epic 100 multishot function. The total 2,250 8mp shots was done with one memory card and one set of batteries for each the camera and Gigapan! |

look at the sand clinging to the side of the rock face. The sand was that high recently! Whenever I am near our coastal geology I think of Ron Schott and sometimes stop to give him little gifts :-) |

This pond is spring feed and holds water all year, almost every year. Consequently it is home to many animals and is visitied by many others. Coyotes like to hunt for groud squirrels here and are often present when people are not around or are quiet. I have even spoted a mountain lion here. A scarlet tananger came by to check me out while I was setting up, apparently drawn by the sort of chipring sound that my motors made. But this was early afternoon on a 100 degree day so all of the other beasts hide from this, and I was largely alone except for dragonflys. |

Mendocino is a culturally and physically colorful place along the North Coast of California. This private garden is in the front yard of a house tucked in between the galleries and shops along the seafront walk arcross from the Headland Park. |
