Sutro Baths area 4 days later than my previous. I've included the other part of the area that wasn't in my previous panorama. I also sharpened the pictures so you can see more details.
I found numerous activities taking place, from fishing, surfing, jet skiing, climbing, animal/bird watching to hiking. Interestingly there's a person sitting by a seal that had clearly died and was bloated, thus decomposing and smelling. This location in the regional preserve is North of Livermore California by about ten miles. It is about thirty miles from Berkeley California. The area is really rather remote for being so close to urban areas. It is great to have parks and hills. Mount Diablo is the peak that you see.
The image consited of 1600 images of 9 megapixels each to produce an image of 210,000 by about 20,000 pixels to make a 4 gigapixel image. There was a great deal of image overlap. It took two ales to complete the exposure of this image. It also took six days for my dual core to process this. |

A 360 degree rooftop view on a beautiful spring day in the Evergreen neighborhood of San Jose, CA, located in the foothills of the East Hills / Diablo Range. With the spring rains, the hills are briefly green before the summer turns them golden. In the distance, you can see across the South Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains and just make out downtown San Jose through the haze. Quimby Road, the major street visible in the panorama, separates the older houses built in the 70's from the new construction in the 2000's, including Evergreen Valley High School, which all sits on land that was formerly vineyards (Mirassou Winery). |

When I posted the GigaPan I shot from Goat Rock State Park, California (http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=14040) I feared I had lost about 300 photos to the right of that image that covered Jenner, California. As it turns out, I had only misplaced those photos. As a result I can now post the GigaPan from this location that I had originally intended. It is a panorama that spans the Pacific Ocean, the mouth of the Russian River, and now the town of Jenner, California. I realize that the GigaPan stitcher had some troubles with the horizon on the left of the image, but I'm uploading this version to preserve the metadata of the full stitch. I may try photoshopping it to clean it up in the future - if successful I'll add that version when it's available. Meanwhile, see what you can find in the town of Jenner! |
