This ant is from the species Proceratium MG03 which is thought to be a specialized predator of spider eggs.
This Nano Gigapan is of the front view of the ants head. It is magnified 600x using a scanning electron microscope. The ant was given to us to image by Brian Fisher, an Entomologist at the California Academy of Sciences. This Nano Gigapan is composed of 143 pictures. This Gigapan is part of the NanoGigaPan project. Which is working to take high resolution images of very small things. Read more on the project blog at http://nanogigapan.blogspot.com and see more of our work on the gigapan site at http://gigapan.org/profiles/mollyg For some optical images of this particular ant species, please visit ant web. http://www.antweb.org/description.do?rank=species&name=mg03&genus=proceratium&project=madants |

Artwork by artist Robert Crisman, part of the "Cow Parade La Jolla" currently on display all over La Jolla, CA. Taken today, Sunday 3/15/09 on Herschel Ave in La Jolla. 98 megapixels, 27 images, stitched with Autopano Pro. See www.cowparadelajolla.com. |

A picture of Artist's Pallette in Death Valley, CA. I've calculated this at around 45 megapixels, and was stitched together by hand in Photoshop. |

A healthy number of stitching errors, unfortunately... this is a 36-image (3 row) 360 degree panorama shot along Colton Ave. in Redlands, California on October 18, 2007.
At 290 megapixels, it's one of the largest pans I've ever put together. |

This creek runs though a park just South of Livermore Caliifornia. The creek provides a rich habitat for herrons, hawks, bobcats, coyotes, squirrels, catfish and trout. It is nice to live in a town having advanced technologies, fine parks, wineries, and a rich natural habitats all in close proximity. Don't let people trick you into thinking that you can't have busnesses AND a nice enviroment - you can have both! However, getting both great depth of field and sufficient dynamic range is an ongoing issue.... |
