From the tower at the Chanel Islands National Park. This was taken on Memorial Day 2009 as part of a set from the tower. Lots of activity on the water resulted in lots of things getting cut off. Taken using Gigapan Epic 100 and Canon S5 IS |

What a perfect evening for Gigapanning! Good light (no clouds), no wind, and a beautiful view (for Kansas). I think I managed to miss shooting any of the boats on the lake, but if you look at the water you can see the wake of one of them as it approaches the camera - it gives you a sense of the time it takes for the pan to progress. Got lucky to catch the geese - it'd be nice if the Gigapan robot had a pause option that allowed one to move to a grid square (like Last Panorama does) so one could catch transient phenomena that the normal progress of the pan might miss. |

Memorial Day Weekend, 2009 at Ventura Harbor, California. This was done using the Gigapan Epic 100 and a Canon S5 IS, this is 750 images at 12x zoom. Each shot was 80 ISO, with an aperature of 4.5. This took almost 90 minutes to shoot. Each shot was repeated three times using the Epic 100 multishot function. The total 2,250 8mp shots was done with one memory card and one set of batteries for each the camera and Gigapan! |

Gasparilla Pirate Fest is an annual celebration held in the streets and waterways of Tampa, Florida. The history and name traces back to the legends about the antics of a pirate called Jose Gaspar. Gaspar reputedly patrolled the waters of West Florida during the late 18th century. The annual festivities begin when the fully rigged pirate ship sails into the heart of Tampa. With flags flying and cannons booming the vessel makes its way through Hillsborough Bay and is joined by hundreds of pleasure craft and vessels of all shapes and sizes. The pirates land at the convention center in downtown Tampa. The mayor of Tampa then lends the key of the city to the pirate captain.
A parade then follows down Bayshore Boulevard. The Krewes throw beads, coins and other items while shooting blank pistols from floats during the parade. The annual event is attended by over 400,000 people and is often been referred to as the Mardi Gras of Tampa. Hundreds of boats in motion add to the fun of this panorama made from 90 photographs captured over several minutes of time. You will find some boats and and people appearing more than once and a few half boats. |
