This is a 290° panorama of Munich at night. I made the pictures on top of the Olympia tower (Olympiaturm). http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=6017
The viewing platform is around 195m above ground and you have a great view over the city. Due to strong winds I had some problems to get sharp images. 80 pictures at ISO 800, F4, focal length at 120mm. You can compare this image with the panorama I took during some other day. http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=10127 |

Nuremberg (Nurnberg) Castle is located on a sandstone rock in the north of the historical city of Nuremberg / Germany. It comprises three parts: the Emperor's buildings "Kaiserburg" (King's castle), "Burggrafenburg" , and the buildings on the eastern side "städtische Burganlage". The castle was damaged in the Second World War but then reconstructed; today it is one of the main landmarks in Nuremberg.
This are 200 pictures at focal length of 600mm Any commercial use or publication of the image, in whole or in part, without prior written authorization of the copyright holder is strictly prohibited. |

Kulmbach on a cold winter morning (right after Christmas 2008). I took the panorama from the Plassenburg castle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plassenburg) which looms above the old town.
The panorama was stitched with PTGui and saved as a TIF image. For upload to the Gigapan website I had to reduce the original size from 2.34 GPixels to 0.6 GPixels. The 432 images were taken with my Lumix FZ28 (at 12x zoom; focal length 35mm equiv.: 347.0 mm) and my homebuilt robotic panorama head. Some images got lost somehow, so I had to reconstruct these from the neighboring images and a low-resolution overview image (taken at 1x zoom). Camera make: Panasonic Camera model: DMC-FZ28 Image size: 3648x2736 (10.0 megapixels) Capture time: 2008-12-28 11:25:47 - 2008-12-28 12:11:40 Aperture: f/5.6 - f/6.3 Exposure time: 0.0025 ISO: 100 Focal length (35mm equiv.): 347.0 mm Digital zoom: off White balance: Automatic |

This is a 360° panorama of Munich.
During a Sunday walk with the family and not carrying my Gigapanbot with me I took 102 pictures (2 rows) free-hand on top of the Olympia tower. I did not use a tripod and I had to walk around the tower to cover 360°! Due to the clear weather you can see the Alps in a distance of more than 100 km. |

Obersee am Königssee
The (Obersee) upper lake is a natural lake in the Berchtesgadener Alps. The lake is separated from the Königssee by a moraine embankment. On the right side you can see the Fischunkelalm and on the left side the Watzmann mountain. This is a 195° view, at focal length of 50mm Any commercial use or publication of the image, in whole or in part, without prior written authorization of the copyright holder is strictly prohibited. |

The Kampenwand is one of the most beautiful trips in the Chiemgau / Bavaria. Within 14 minutes you get up the mountain (1467 m) comfortably with the Kampenwandbahn cablecar. The SonnenAlm is only a short 5 minutes walk. They offer food, drinks and accommodation.
You will get a great view over the central alps: Berchtesgadener mountains with the Watzmann over the Steinerene sea and the Loferer stone mountains into the high Tauern with the Großglockner and the Großvenediger. After passing the SonnenAlm on the left side up the next hill on the left, you will have a great view on the Chiemsee: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=8839 One year later I climbed the Kampenwand peak, which you can see right in the middle of the panorama. A splendid winter panoramic view from Wallberg, near Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany.
The mount's elevation is 1722m only. But it is the last big mount at the edge of the Bavarian highlands and offers a splendid view into all directions. The image contains both, Großglockner and Zugspitze, aka Austria's and Germany's highest mountains. And you may spot parts of Munich as well. Taken with Pentax K20D and DA 40mm Ltd. (48 images). Tone mapping and sharpening applied. The original panorama had a contrast ratio of up to 14 EV. A more detailed subset of this panorama for the East Alps Main Chain is available here: http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=15268 |
