Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary taken into heaven and St Adalbert, Esztergom
Hungary's largest church and the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. The Classicist basilica houses a Renaissance masterpiece, the Bakócz Chapel. The Treasury's collection is extremely rich. The basilica is 118 metres long, 49 meteres wide, and 100 metres in height. Arches connect the two 57-metre towers on the left and right of the tympanum at the main entrance. The visitor is welcomed in its immense interior laid in a Greek cross plan, with a single barrel-vaulted nave divided only by the transepts, and dominated by the huge crossing dome. Grey marble dominates the colours of the interior, lightened by white and gold decoration and red marble ornamentation. The high altarpiece is the world's largest oil painting on a single sheet of canvas. (13.5mx6.6m) The grounds of a medieval church were chosen for the site of the basilica. Built between 1822 and 1869 under four archbishops, it was designed by architects Pál Kühnel, János Packh, and finally József Hild. The basilica was inaugurated in 1856. Ferenc Liszt composed his Esztergom Mass for this occasion, and he personally conducted the orchestra at the celebration. The cupola is open for to the public and offers a spectacular panorama. The church crypt is the final resting place for the dignitaries of the church in Hungary, including Cardinal József Mindszenty. The Covington Inn is one of America's few floating bed and breakfasts permanently moored within the reflection of downtown St. Paul's towering skyline. In 1946, this towboat hit the inland waterways with a splash. For 30 years the 300-ton Covington pushed barges of liquid cargo, usually petroleum, along a 1,000-mile stretch of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. 20 years later, the visionary partners of River Valley Preservation Company saw the Covington dry-docked in Louisiana and hauled her upstream to St. Paul. They gutted the tow's inner workings, then inch by inch transformed the boat's steely chambers into cozy rooms. In 1995, the boat re-emerged with a new purpose, The Covington Inn. Along side her is the River Boat Grill. Every place to stay must have a nearby restraunt. |

The original Showboat, built in 1899, was acquired by the University in 1958 as a part of the state’s centennial program and was converted into a theater. After serving students and audiences for many years the showboat was badly in need of repair. In 2000 a welder’s torch ignited a blaze that burned the old boat to the waterline. The University was unable to replace the Showboat with the available funds and the Padelford Co. volunteered to build the boat within the University’s budget. The Padelford Co. ended up contributing $300,000 to project and received a management contract with the University for the 225-seat theater and reception area. |

This hanging bridge is at the Bosque del Cabo lodge on the Osa peninsula of Costa Rica. It's near Corcovado National park.

Puma and tapir have been seen near the stream. A day later, I saw a troop of coatis near the bridge. Alas, this was mid-afternoon and not the best time for seeing animals. |

A first test with the Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D ´W1´ digicam. An interesting pretty small 3d-cam with 77mm stereobase. Many problems (jumps in perspective, etc) have to be resolved and many tests have to be done ( stitching methods, maximum possible image size, etc..). I consider this a nice challenge.
BTW: the 3D-jobs such as calibration, stereobase aligning, re-calibration of far-point, adding anaglyph-colors (etc..) are done with the freeware ´Stereophotomaker´ (ver. 4.12).
