spacer Of the panos I have taken, this one is rapidly becoming a favourite because although it is superficially not much to look at, it has a high degree of zoomabilty. Check out the guided tour at http://www.byteswithbite.co.uk/kilgore/org/auto/gen.htm. (This is very much a proof-of-concept rather than a finished product, but I rather like it.)

There is a slightly larger view of the interesting part of this pano in http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=9808.

Is three suspension bridges in one pano a record?

I believe I have found all the churches that you can see in the Bath portion of this pano - unless you know different!

For a similar gigapan do check out Brian Bentham's http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=15962. Lots to see there too.

spacer This is a 290° panorama of Munich at night. I made the pictures on top of the Olympia tower (Olympiaturm). http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=6017
The viewing platform is around 195m above ground and you have a great view over the city.
Due to strong winds I had some problems to get sharp images. 80 pictures at ISO 800, F4, focal length at 120mm.
You can compare this image with the panorama I took during some other day. http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=10127

Here you see Gavin Booth and Adam Wilton of the British South Pole Expedition 2008 as they arrive at the South Pole on December 27. Their 700 mile, unsupported ski journey from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole raised funds for the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust.

As they cross the skiway they are greeted by Leah Street, one of our summer crew members who is also a volunteer tour guide. She will show them to the Geographic South Pole marker, the Ceremonial Pole and to the spot where they can pitch their tents. They will get a brief tour of the station and then wait in their camp for the plane that will take them back to the coast.

As a benefit of the shooting and stitching process that created this panorama, you see them again, farther to the right, as they are escorted to the tourist area in front of the station.

This panorama shows a wide view of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station from the support buildings in the back (grid south) to the science buildings and Ice Cube project toward grid west and grid north. Please enjoy your tour as you explore the snapshots.

The 61 images of this panorama were photographed with a Nikon D 80 and stitched with Autopano Pro.

View of Yosemite Valley, Tenaya and Merced Canyons from near Glacier Point.

spacer There are many places in Yosemite National Park that are worth the trip to see. I would have to say that one of the "Must See"s is Glacier Point. It has one of the best "Bang for the Buck!" of any of the vistas in the park. The Point is a short few hundred yard walk from the parking lot. As you drive up to Glacier Point you have Taft Point and Sentinel Dome, both of which are a short 1.1 mile hike from the road, and the Washburn Point turnout. If you have the time, consider spending a day in the area enjoying these highlights.

This vista wasn't done from the public walkway at the Point. I visited the Point 3 times this summer, each time thinking I had found the perfect location for a Gigapan, only to find an even better spot the next visit, all the while determining the best time of day to start the Gigapan process. This spot is down the slope to the east quite a ways from the point and was quite precarious to get to. I considered trying to go down slope another 10 or 20 feet, but decided I was close enough to the multi thousand foot drop!

This Gigapan is comprised of 2072 images and took 2 hours 2 minutes to complete. The cliffs in the shot were not all in sunlight at the same time. The shot was started on the left when those cliffs where starting to lose their light. At this time the cliffs on the right were still in shadow. By the time the shot had progressed to the right the sun had moved enough to light those cliffs, and the left cliffs were in shadow.

This Gigapan was taken on a holiday weekend. There are people all over the place. How many can you find?
How many of the places listed in the keywords list can you find?
How many of the major tourist spots can you find.
How many trails can you find?
Can you find your favorite spot?
Do you see any rock climbers on Half Dome?
Do you see any rock climbers anywhere else?

Enjoy! :)

All of Wendy's GigaPans can be seen via this link: http://tinyurl.com/rice-wendy

This GigaPan was taken of Keck Hall in mid-January when the students returned from Christmas break. To my eye, it is the best that I have taken and I am very pleased with it. As one can readily see, it was taken late in the afternoon and it was a blue-sky day.

Other recent panoramas of Keck Hall can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/searchGigapansList.php?ids=42391,42388,42395

This GigaPan is comprised of 924 photos and was extracted from a much larger version, which can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/cdf070680010e7a6115e513324d33e3a/

It is a 33 column by 28 row GigaPan taken with a Canon SX110 camera and stitched with the GigaPan Stitcher. Additional details can be found in Stitcher Notes with information concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run.

Note: This absolutely glorious panorama can be seen in Google Earth as a curved panorama on a curved surface by clicking the link, View in Google Earth (assuming that you have Google Earth installed on your computer).

spacer This is the view from Crook Peak in the Mendips, looking across to Weston-super-Mare. As ever, wide fov images like this look best in GE.

Weston is actually hidden behind a hill and you can only see the outskirts, but capturing Weston was not the goal.

The goal was in fact to answer two technical questions: (1) how big can I make a pano? and (2) what is the view like from Crook Peak? The answer to the first question seems to be "at least 2.5Gpix" (I like this number) and to the second "well, it is a bit like this".

Sadly this pano has no extraordinary hats like this: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=11641.

I took a 360° from this viewpoint but sadly it didn't work out. A pity - you can see Glastonbury Tor quite clearly.

I am undecided about whether one can see Sand Point (http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=9016) in this view. I suspect one can't. Will update these comments when I have geocoded this pano more accurately and had a look in GE.

spacer Taken over the course of an hour, this is a view of the fields of northwest Ellis County, Kansas in late autumn. I caught an individual shot with an eight point buck just before I set this one up. Don't know if he's hiding in here, but there's certainly lots to find.

This is my first large landscape shot with the Canon SX10 IS at the full 20x zoom. There's a small hole where the camera missed a photo - otherwise I'm very pleased.

spacer Lugano lies at the edge of Lake Lugano (Italian: Lago di Lugano or Ceresio), which is situated between the lakes Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como, south of the Alps.

The city is located where the river Cassarate enters the lake between the Brè (925m) and the San Salvatore (912m) mountains.

spacer - Canon EOS 5d (full frame) ISO 100 f/10 1/200sec
- 200mm fixed focal length
- pixSize 4386 x 2912

- vov 5°
- 37rows by 9columns (333pix) (190° by 50°) slightly cropped in photoshop

- i use a manfrotto pano head on a Gitzo tripod and shoot row by row manually (which btw is about 5 times the weight but also twice as fast and a lot less shaky and a lot sharper than gigapanos taken with the gigapan robot and a Canon G9)

GigaPan Stitcher 0.4.3865. i am absolutely impressed by the quality of the stitching. you hardly find any stitching errors - even in the cables that cross the middle lake. (of course it's really important to do the parallax adjustments on your pano head as well as possible) hophi
