Machu Picchu is an Inca site in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has been called one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
Hiram Bingham is credited with discovering Machu Picchu, but there were people living there at the time of his "discovery". The better-known photos of Machu Picchu are taken from closer to the Intiwatana with Wayna Picchu in the background. Taken from one of the lower terraces near the entrance area, this panorama shows many details of Machu Picchu as well as the surrounding mountains. 630 separate 8MP images went into this panorama. An attempt at the World Record for the greatest number of gratuitous occurrences of the same person in a gigapan (140mm lens) without using Photoshop.
Many thanks to the wonderful Miss Pixie for being so patient! Update: The bar has been raised to 22 occurrences - see http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=21255. |

Hanauma Bay from the steps along the north rim: 25 rows x 70 columns. Mahalo nui loa to Randy Sargent for stitching this beast! Banding, again, due to strong trade winds and continuous cloud banks. Too many people to use the "pause" function efficiently, so I just let the body parts accumulate. |

This is a view of Benidorm from Sierra Helada, the wind was high, so i used a 135 lens instead of a longer focal, as it was cold the beach was quite empty, i will do another one next summer with much more detail.
