This image was a preliminary study for the creation of a detailed, 360-degree panorama of the Pittsburgh area from the top of the US Steel Tower and produced in conjunction with an investigation being conducted by David Bear at Carnegie Mellon University's Studio for Creative Inquiry. To improve on this gigapan, it would be nice to build a rig to (safely) support a Gigapan and camera further out, so that one could see straight down to Grant St.

I had the same problem but instead of building an overhanging rig, I used a tall film lighting stand with extention up to 20 feet in order to get over the boundary wall on this tower in Bristol http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/33892/ and http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/33824/ Keith Posted by krbristol |
