The stitcher notes say "Horizontal overlap: 0.7 to 42.2 percent, Vertical overlap: 0.9 to 98.4 percent" but I wouldn't read too much into that. When the results are this zany, the overlap figures become pretty meaningless, since they are vulnerable to outliers. It appears that portions of the gigapan are stitched correctly (near far right, for example) and it looks like you've got 10% horizontal overlap, or so. That's too small, but I doubt that's responsible for all the problems here. Could it be that you also told the stitcher the wrong number of rows? A symptom of that is often that each input image gets rotated, as we see here. Posted by paulheckbert |

So, we did a full 360 panorama. I really don't know what happened, I do remember when it came time to align the gigapan, I had to manually go through and delete a bunch of pictures, because they were exact copies of other pictures. After I did this, the gigipan looked as though it was going to stitch perfectly. Obviously it didn't. So I don't know...you could be right, but the picture looked so good after manually aligning the gigapan...I was so disappointed when, after 9 hours of stitching, it came out like this!! Haha, although I don't think I could repeat this if I tried :-) Posted by tviinanen |
